Metabolic Medical Center

Metabolic Medical Center of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina was established in 1995.  Michal Baird, MD, Jane L. Tyler, MD, Dennis Vaughn, MD and staff oversee this office to better serve our patients in the Charleston and surrounding areas. 

Metabolic Medical Centers were founded by the late Douglas J. Jones Jr., M.D in 1995. Dr. Jones began his work while at the Medical University of South Carolina.  He was working with diabetic patients, to establish a healthier way of eating in order to control their disease.  As a side effect, he found that they could not only control their diabetes, but lose weight and gain overall better health.  In addition, he found that his programs were safe and effective for anyone who wanted to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  He dedicated his life to researching the complexities of weight loss and weight management.   This research enabled him to develop programs which have helped thousands of patients avoid or reverse weight-related diseases.
